Aroor is a town of Alappuzha district and is also a suburb of Cochin, Kerala. This town is 60.1 km away from the Alapuzzha district. Aroor is famous for its seafood exports and is often known as the industrial hub of Allappuzha. The name “Aroor” is derived from the expression, “Arayarude Oor” which means the place of fishermen in Malayalam. The town is part of the Alappuzha Lok Sabha Constituency. The places located around Aroor are Arookutty, Kumbalam, Chandiroor, Kumbalangi and Palluruthy. The town is linked to Aroor-Kumbalam Bridge, which is the second longest bridge in Kerala.
