Thrissur is the district in the Kerala state. It was once named the capital of the Cochin Kingdom. Chera Dynasty ruled earlier Thrissur and at last,the Kingdom of Cochin ruled it. This cultural capital of Kerala is the home of many religious places like Guruvayur Temple, Hindu Vaishnava Temple, Cheraman Juma Masjid and Vadakunnathan Temple. It is also the academic hub of Kerala that includes institutions like Kerala Kalamandalam, Jawahar Bal Bhavan and Kerala University of Medical and Allied Sciences. It consists of four major railway stations, among which the Thrissur Railway Station is the busiest station in the entire state. The Cochin International Airport is just about 55 km from this district. The Thrissur Pooram festival celebrated between mid April to mid may is the biggest of all poorams held in Kerala. It is the hub for healthcare in the Central Kerala, which covers Palakkad, Malappuram and northern part of Ernakulam. This part has some huge number of football fans and has Thrissur Municipal Corporation stadium and Thope Football Stadium.
